Here's us taking a Zodiac out to the bird island, Genovese.
This is called a dry landing, meaning we don't get our feet wet.
The red-footed boobie. The red is caused from the pigment of the squid that is their favorite food.
A masked boobie with a chick.
The great frigate bird.
A red-footed boobie chick. Note no pigment in the feet yet.
A masked boobie chick so new it can't even stand well.
This picture tries to give you a sense of just how many birds we were surrounded by.
A great find: this owl is the only member of the owl family that hunts during the day. Here it is taking apart a storm petrel to feed on.
The birds have no fear of man, and you can walk right up to them.
We went snorkeling in the morning, but we didn't have an underwater camera. Sorry, you'll have to go yourself to see all the wonderful fishes (and sharks and eels).
This is a wet landing on the beach in the afternoon.
Kimberly and a pair of sea lions.
A very rare type of gull endemic to Galapagos. The red ring around its eyes helps it to hunt at night.
A red-footed boobie with chick.
A lava heron. Note the coloring and how it blends into the rock.
A bunch of bachelor boobies.
Some great frigate birds homing in on a poor boobie that had some fish.
Some sea lions hanging out on the beach.
