Day 5: Sightseeing in Ottawa including the RCMP stables and the war museum.
Today's bus tour is around the sites in Ottawa, the Canadian capital.
Some shots from the bus show similarities to both American and European influences.
A giant spider named "Maman" after the artist's mother.
The Parliament complex.
Later we see it from the water side, but the visibility is low. To the left is the start of the lock system.
We take a quick stop at the Canadian Museum of Civilization...
...to see this First Nations exhibition in the main gallery.
The museum has a beautiful and interesting architecture with few straight lines.
We cross over the Royal Alexandra Bridge.
One main stop is the RCMP stables for their Musical Ride brigade.
Inside the stables, horses being taken in and out for exercise.
The name plates show the sire and dam of each horse.
Much of the work is done outside, but there are inside work areas with mirrors like a dance studio.
The ferrier shop.
Most of the horses are out on tour, but there are quite a few here.
A tack storage area.
The horse showering area.
Kimberly in front of some of the outdoor practice areas.
Later we stop at the Queen Elizabeth II Equestrian Monument...
...which is across from Rideau Hall, an important meeting hall and sometimes residence.
The Hall is surrounded by a huge and lovely garden, with trees dedicated from various world leaders.
Rideau Hall itself.
The tour ended at the War Museum, where we spent a couple of hours but didn't take a lot of pictures.
