Day 3 was spent communing with nature. We decided to drive up to the
Napa Petrified Forest.
Here's Wade with "Petrified Charley", the man who discovered
the trees, and who was later written about by Robert Louis Stevenson.
Kimberly being too cute.
It was a little overcast that day, which was good, because it was over
100 degrees on Day 1.
We had some other tourists take our picture in front of the ash fall.
A very large manzanita tree.
Nothing to see here.
A new tree growing up through an old tree.
We then went back to Calistoga to see "Old Faithful". Evidently
there are three of these in the world, including the "real"
Old Faithful and this one.
Pre-eruption.
The geyser only goes every hour or so, depending on conditions (so much
for the "faithful" part). They have goats and sheep on the grounds
to entertain the kids...
Here's some ugly freaky four-horned goat.
Wade with his new buddies.
Kimberly is just a "kid" at heart. Get it?
Waiting, waiting, waiting.
Here's Wade in the "Game of Thrones" shade.
Finally, it starts...
...and erupts.
