Heading off to Nijo-Jo castle.
You have to take your shoes off for the first part of the tour.
You also cannot take pictures, so you can't see the statues we saw.
Back on the grounds, a small shrine.
Shrines always have water features for the right feng shui.
We really were there at the right time, as you can see what size crowds they expect based
on the widths of some of these sidewalks.
We take pictures like this just so we can remember where we were.
Our tour guide showing us the layout, and which way we will be going.
An entryway into the next courtyard...
...and the view of that courtyard.
It is just starting to drizzle a little...
...and you can see the droplets in this pond.
The intrepid traveler.
These pine trees are all over the sacred sites.
This is a fortification tower on one corner of the walls.
We drive over to this resort hotel to have lunch.
Lunch consists of this bento box of various Japanese foods.
The ice cream vendor has these little cups (like K-cups) that go in this machine,
which extrudes the ice cream serving into your cup.
Our next stop is the Golden Pavilion; here is the map.
Kimberly getting ready to go in.
"Admit one"
Here we are with the actual Golden Pavilion in the background.
Getting closer, you can see the gold leaf.
A picture of some pictures of the seasons.
It's hard to see, but this is a little water spring.
Another small shrine within the complex.
Around to the back side of the pavilion.
This is a small tea house that is more like a museum setting now.
