Our stop today is Zihuatanejo. We are greeted with the local dancers.
The tour started by stopping by a local farm to see local produce, ...
... including this fruit tree.
Then we went out to see a local Mayan pyramid. We started at the museum.
It was a smaller museum with artifacts excavated from the local site.
Here's Wade with one of the carved plinths.
This is a goal from the famous Mayan ball game.
A map of the local tribal areas.
A relief showing what the local ruins would have looked like.
Now out to the ruins. They have rebuilt this ball court.
This gate leads to the main excavation site.
The main site is a step pyramid.
On top, though, you can see that only about 6% of this site is excavated.
There are a few walkways, and some [non-original] drainage systems in place.
A smaller construction on top of the main square.
From the far end of the walkway, you can look out over the surrounding valley.
The walking steps are in the background.
