Our sightseeting today starts with the Casa de Mateus.
It is a lovely old mansion-turned-museum.
Kimberly looks bored because the docent just hits "play" and we listen.
A preserved scene from the 19th century.
The dining room...
...and the library.
Around the grounds.
The chapel.
Wandering around the gardens.
On to our stop for lunch.
This is lovely courtyard, but we are eating inside.
The table was already set with appetizers, olives, finger sandwiches, etc.
The highlight: duck rice (arroz con pato) with chorizo.
Wade's serving.
FOr the vegetarians.
The salad was good, but a little hard to find in some places.
On to a wine tasting at the Quinta (Farm) de Pacheca).
Our guide showing us the vineyards.
If you look close, you can see little tiny grapes starting to grow.
The Sandeman brand logo over their vineyards.
Stomping pits, which are still used.
More huge 10,000-litre casks.
Here they served us a red wine, a tawny port, and a ruby port.
