For Kimberly's birthday, Hans treated us all to "Beyond Van Gogh", an immersive experience at the Anaheim Convention Center.
We stopped at California Pizza Kitchen on the way up...
...and then took some group pictures in front of a display wall of "Starry Night".
Here's the whole gang...
...with Kairi filling in as Hans' date because Terry was feeling a bit ill.
The first room had a history of events in Van Gogh's life, and quotes from letters that he had written to his brother.
The second room was called the "waterfall room"...
...with colors cascading down the walls and across the floor.
Here is Karyn and Rick amidst the colors.
The waterfall moved around the doorways, and "bounced" around spots in the floor, like where Wade is laying down.
The main room had projections on the walls, floor, and three center canvases for a full immersion.
Here's Hans in a "Starry Night" in Paris type of scene.
The main loop repeats about every thirty minutes, and goes through everything from portraits...
...to quotes and textures...
...to famous scenes that have been animated...
...to various self-portraits that Van Gogh did over the years.

Another transition effect: the rippling on the floor was trippy.
