Day 3 -- Sonora Desert Museum, Air and Space Museum.
Since it had been around 110 degrees in the afternoon, we got up early to head through the Saguaro National Forest...
...to the Sonora Desert Museum, which is part museum, part zoo, and part gardens.
Here's Kimberly going into the cave environment to check for bats.
Oh, no, she's been bitten and turned into a bat.
A black bear muching on some watermelon.
Wade's totem, the wolf.
Wolf on the prowl.
The picture does not do justice to the yellow eyes on this tufted-ear owl.
What Wade would look like as a turkey vulture.
We loved this little prarie dogs, especially the big fat one on the right.
A bobcat up in the rocks in his environment.
One section was a screened-off aviary with a ton of different birds.
Each bird making its own special sounds from its own nesting environment.
There was a separate hummingbird aviary with all colors of hummingbirds.
Kimberly's butterfly of the day.
After lunch, we went out to the Air and Space Museum.
We took the tram around in 114 degree heat, but it's a dry heat. The planes are arranged by type, and this was part of the fighter jet section.
If you want to look up a particular plane, you can Google the tail numbers to get a history.
One of the Air Force One jets, used by JFK and LBJ.
Long-range bomber.
Skyhook helicopter. There were actually five indoor hangars of planes and information that were climate-controlled as well.
