Day 6 -- Taos Pueblo, Rio Granded Gorge Bridge, Cafe Paprika Moroccan food.
The Taos Pueblo is a working Native American Pueblo town.
The Catholic church shows the influence of the Spanish, though as in Peru, some of the iconography has been adapted by the locals.
A fish-drying rack / patio cover.
An adobe brick oven for baking. You can buy homemade flatbreads from the locals. Our guide was raised in the village for part of his childhood.
An old cemetery...
...in front of the old Catholic church and bell tower.
The South set of buildings. The buildings are entered from the roof. The ladders are pulled up for defense if the village is attacked.
A stream runs through the center of town.
The North set of buildings.
On the way out of town, we take a short detour to go see the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge.
On the way out to the bridge we spot this animal.
The main trestles stretching across the gorge.
It's like a miniature Grand Canyon, if that makes any sense.
Here is the emergency line to call if you are thinking about jumping off the bridge.
Driving on toward Denver, we go up out of the desert and through the mountains.

The sudden hailstorm we encountered. You can see the slush of hail on the road.
We decide to be adventurous and find a Moroccan restaurant when we get into Denver.
We shared a lovely combo kebab with some excellent grilled vegetables over rice, and some hummus.
