Day 10 -- Arches National Park, drive to Salt Lake City, Afghan Cafe.
Wade and Kimberly holding up Balancing Rock.
Wade in front of Turret Arch.
Kimberly in front of the two windows.
This is the window on the left.
We went first thing in the morning because of the heat. Here you can get a better sense of how large the window actually is.
Some of the local vegetation in bloom.
The arch in center left is Delicate Arch, the one that you see on all the travel brochures. It doesn't look like much unless you want to take a long hike over to it.
Stopping to use the restroom. We've been to China, so we can understand "DO NOT stand on the toilet", but come on, do we really have to tell people not to crap on the floor?
Besides the arch formations, they have these tower formations as well.
Kimberly in front of Skyline Arch. You have to drive around to several locations in the park, and some of them require hikes out to the arches.
We hiked up this close to Skyline Arch.
One of the longer hikes we took was out to Landscape Arch.
You can't get a good idea of scale from the picture. They don't let anyone under this arch since part of it collapsed on the right side a few years ago.
Getting adventurous for food, we go to the Afghan Kitchen. The appetizer in a potato burani, kind of like mashed potato quesadilla with a hot sauce and a yogurt sauce. Quite delicious!
Our main course was a mixed dashi with beef and chicken and vegetables, sizzling like a fajita plate. It came with seasoned rice, and we got some garlic naan to go with it.
